Literary Contest 2024 Literary Contest 2024 The Petar Mandic Endowment, a charitable institution based in Belgrade, that honours the memory of Nikola Tesla's ancestors and promotes family values and parenthood in Serbian society, is organising the second literary contest in collaboration with the Secondary School in Nova Varos for the "Professor Borivoje Jelic" literary award. Objective and Rules of the Contest The aim of the contest is to promote family values and parenthood in Serbia, particularly in Nova Varos, through student submissions. Interested students of the Secondary School in Nova Varos are encouraged to submit their works in any form of their choosing (poem, story, essay, etc.). All submissions must be written in Cyrillic script and signed under a pseudonym. The competition will take place on 29th March 2024 in the premises of the Secondary School in Nova Varos. The contest topic will be revealed on the day of the competition from a sealed envelope, in the presence of the committee overseeing the event. Participants will have 90 minutes, equivalent to two school periods, to complete their literary works. An independent expert committee from Belgrade will evaluate the submitted works. The composition of the committee will be announced alongside the winners. Each committee member will independently select their top three entries. In cases where individual choices do not sufficiently align or where the number of selected works exceeds the number of prizes available, a final decision will be made in consultation with a reference member of the Petar Mandic Endowment’s Expert Council, chosen by the Endowment’s Manager. The announcement of the best student works will take place, as per tradition, on 10th April of the current year, which coincides with Professor Borivoje Jelic’s birthday. After decoding the authors' names, the winning works will be published on the official website of the Petar Mandic Endowment at teslamandic.org. The top three works will be awarded a prize of 10,000 dinars each. The prizes will be transferred to the winners' bank accounts.
