"Petar Mandic" Endowment

Eligibility for Scholarship Application

In accordance with the Statute of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment, the following conditions must be met by students in order to apply for the scholarship competition:

  • Enrolled in the current academic year in technical or other scientific studies.
  • Not currently employed.
  • Citizens of the Republic of Serbia, from the municipality of Nova Varos or of native descent from that municipality.
  • Display a keen interest in the life and work of Nikola Tesla.

Note for Students from Vulnerable Social Groups:

Students from vulnerable social groups (students without parental care, from single-parent families, students with disabilities, students with chronic or rare diseases) may submit evidence of such status. In the case of an equal score in the final ranking, they may be given preferential treatment.


Required Documentation

When applying for the competition, students are required to submit electronic copies of the following documents, which are listed in the competition announcement and constitute an integral part of the application:

  • Completed application form (the application form template is available at the bottom of the page).
  • Certificate of enrollment at the university.
  • For students in their second year or higher, evidence of passed exams and/or the achieved average grade.
  • High school diplomas (only for freshmen).
  • Birth certificate.
  • Scanned personal identification card.
  • Essay on the topic: "Which of Tesla's ancestors inspires you the most and why?"

Note for Students from Vulnerable Social Groups

Students from vulnerable social groups (in addition to the documents mentioned above) should also submit evidence of their membership in such a group.


Deadline for Document Submission

The deadline for applying to the competition is until Friday, 3rd November 2023. Applications are submitted through the "Petar Mandic" Endowment's website by completing the application form and attaching the electronic copies of the required documents.

Incomplete competition documentation and documentation submitted after the specified deadline will not be considered.


Scholarship Disbursement

The scholarship will be disbursed as a one-time payment in the amount of 100,000.00 (one hundred thousand) Serbian dinars. 

The approved scholarship amount will be transferred to the provided bank account. Scholarship recipients will also receive a copy of the book Tesla: A Spiritual Character [Тесла: Духовни лик] with a dedication from the author, the founder of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment.

Recipients will be contacted and subsequently informed about the book's delivery location.


Note

The scholarship recipient student has an exclusive moral obligation, which primarily entails diligence and commitment to the acquisition of knowledge and virtues, in line with the motto of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment, derived from the following quote:

"It is very difficult to find a person who possesses all three qualifications: knowledge, righteousness and selflessness." (Nikola Tesla, Letter to his nephew Nikola Trbojevic, 1928)
