The "Petar Mandic" Endowment regularly announces a competition for scholarships for students of technical and other sciences, following the example of Tesla's uncles, Petar and Paja Mandic, who gave their younger nephew a scholarship for his studies when he lost his father.

Conditions for applying to the competition

The requirement for applying for the scholarship award competition, in accordance with the Statute of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment has students who are:

• enrolled in the current school year for studies in technical or other sciences;
• not in employment;
• citizens of the Republic Serbia, from the territories of the municipality of Nova Varos or originating from the municipality;
• express an interest in the character and work of Nikola Tesla.

Students from vulnerable social groups (students without parental care, from single-parent families, students with disabilities, students with chronic or rare diseases) may submit evidence of such status. In the case of an equal score in the final ranking, they may be given preferential treatment.

Scholarships are advertised once a year, on 15th October, the day when Tesla put into operation the polyphasic alternating current system at the Niagara Falls.

The first scholarship was announced and awarded in 2022.
