The main operational goal of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment is the construction of an ethno-museum complex built for the glory of God and in honour of Tesla's priestly ancestors from the Tesla, Mandic, Kalinic and Budisavljevic families.
Construction of ethno-museum complex
The plan is for the entire complex to be built on a plot of land of KO 1890 and 1891 in Radoinja, in the relatively close to the electricity substation "Bistrica" (the largest in the region), on a property located opposite the Mandic families in Radoinja.
The ethno-museum complex would include an architectural central point, which will be the Holy Cross, the holiest symbol of Christianity and a centuries-old symbol of the activities of Tesla's ancestors, Orthodox priests and border soldiers. In the ethno-museum complex, there will be a display that would introduce visitors to the main personalities of the mentioned families.
Special emphasis would be on:
- Tesla's father, the Orthodox priest Milutin Tesla - a clergyman, polyglot, polyhistor and missionary, who was Nikola Tesla's first role model in acquiring various knowledge.
- Tesla's mother Georgina (née Mandic) - a woman from the priestly Mandic family, from whom Tesla, according to his own testimony, inherited his genius and inventive gift.
- Tesla's uncle, the Orthodox priest Petar Mandic, later Metropolitan Nikolaj - an eminent figure of the Serbian Orthodox Church, who had a great influence on Nikola Tesla's life.
- Tesla's maternal grandfather, the Orthodox priest Nikola Mandic, who, according to Nikola Tesla's testimony, had a great inventive gift.
- To Tesla's great-grandfather on his mother's side, the Orthodox priest Toma Budisavljevic, who was also a border soldier, famous for unting both services in one person.
The ethno-museum complex would house the unique sculpture U slozi je spas (In unity is salvation) received as the gift from the Tesla Science Foundation from Philadelphia, about which more details can be obtained from the text by the Serbian public broadcaster RTS.
A walking area with facilities for children is planned on the rest of the plot where the ethno-museum complex will be built.
