In honour of Laza Kostic and Shakespeare

A musical poetry evening is being organized in commemoration of 120 years since Kostic's translation of "Hamlet" and 400 years from the first publication of Shakespeare's complete works.

"To be, or not to be, that is the question"

The concert will be held on 9th June at 6 p.m. at a Nova Varos nursery, and the audience at the musical poetry programme in honour of Laza Kostic and William Shakespeare can expect to listen to the music composed by Chopin, Mokranjac and Rachmaninoff, as well as a recital of Kostic’s and Shakespeare’s poetry.

The musical part of the programme will be covered by the piano performance of Marina Milic Radovic. She is a pianist and a Professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and also the founder of the "Laza Kostic" Found.

The poetry of Laza Kostic and William Shakespeare will be recited by the students from the Nova Varos High School, Stefan Mladenovic, Iva Randjelovic, Andrea Saponjic, Andrijana Ranitovic and Kalina Rakonjac, the first-time literary contest winners of the "Professor Borivoje Jelic" award, given out by the "Petar Mandic" Endowment.

  • The "Laza Kostic" Found
    A patron of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment is an institution founded in 1991 in London, and in 2016 in Novi Sad, with the aim of acquainting the worldwide audience and the Serbian diaspora with the character and works of Laza Kostic.
  • The High School Nova Varos
    A partner of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment in promoting students' literary compositions on the subject of parenting and family values, organizing inspirational lectures on the topics related to Nikola Tesla and his ancestors, as well as affirming a balanced education system, which encompasses a simultaneous acquisition of knowledge and virtues.
  • The "Petar Mandic" Endowment
    A charitable institution, whose aims include keeping the memory of Nikola Tesla's priestly ancestors, through the affirmation of parenting, granting of scholarships, the erection of an ethno-museum, promoting high-quality public dialogue between religion and science, affirming the best in Serbian history on a global scale and striving for a continually improving relationship between the Serbs and other Balkan peoples.
