"Laza Kostic"
"Laza Kostic"
Laza Kostic, the "Serbian Shakespeare", as he was called in his youth, was a poet, playwright, philosopher, polyglot, translator, doctor of law, the first President of the Association of Journalists of Serbia, public orator, dedicated sportsman and a liturgical Christian, who dedicated his entire life to the youth.
Laza Kostic as an inspiration
Being the man that he was, he inspired the pianist Marina Milic (today Radovic) to establish the "Laza Kostic" Found in London in 1991, with the aim of introducing to the world public, as well as Serbs in the diaspora, the character and work of Laza Kostic.
In 2009, lawyer Nevena Slovic and theatre expert Zoran Maksimovic joined her to establish a sister foundation in Belgrade, and in 2016 in Novi Sad.
Adhering to the position of the author of the poem Santa Maria della Salute that "the cross is the most powerful principle of the universe", the Found nurtures the character and work of Laza Kostic in an unusual and innovative way, especially devoting itself to quality educational, artistic, sports and spiritual activities for children and the youth.
