"Vrlinoslov"
Guest on the "Vrlinoslov" TV show on Hram Television was Presbyter Dr. Oliver Subotic, the founder of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment.
In the "Vrlinoslov" about the Endowment in the context of righteousness and selflessness
In the context of the "Vrlinoslov" show, which focused on the Orthodox perspective on selflessness and righteousness, the conversation seamlessly incorporated the story of the goals and mission of the Endowment.
Father Oliver Subotic emphasized at the beginning that the Endowment's goal is to preserve the memory of the priestly ancestors of Nikola Tesla, but it also serves societal goals set in relation to Tesla's priestly ancestors and the values they upheld.
First and foremost, there is the dialogue between religion and science and the provision of scholarships to students, inspired by Tesla's uncle, Petar Mandic. Additionally, there is the raising of awareness about the need for parenting schools, the promotion of the Christian concept of parenthood, and the development of emotional and mathematical-logical intelligence in children, with Tesla's parents, Milutin and Georgina Tesla, serving as role models.
"Behind the success of every great person stands a family"
In the context of the importance of family and family values, Presbyter Oliver Subotic highlighted a unique form of injustice that was done to Tesla's ancestors because it was long believed that Nikola Tesla was a self-made phenomenon.
The speaker emphasized that a scientist is not a "gourd without roots" and that their roots are exceptionally strong, primarily Christian. He stated that through its actions, the "Petar Mandic" Endowment aims to show that great scientists like Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin do not emerge without a stable family environment behind them. For this reason, the "Petar Mandic" Endowment does not focus solely on Tesla's character but on the character and deeds of those who preceded him and shaped him in his youth.
The motto of the Endowment, "knowledge, righteousness, selflessness", was also interpreted by Presbyter Oliver Subotic in the context of the scientist's family environment, as Tesla inherited these Christian virtues from his family.
"It is better to have one blessed dinar than a million unblessed ones"
Presbyter Oliver Subotic called on everyone who is eager to help the mission of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment, whether through intellectual work or material support, to do so. He emphasized that the Endowment accepts assistance from everyone except from gambling establishments, secret, non-Christian, and political organizations, explaining that "it is better to have one blessed dinar than a million unblessed ones".
Long-term plan for scholarship awards
Regarding the activities and goals of the Endowment, it was revealed that the granting of scholarships is one of the most important activities of the "Petar Mandic" Endowment. Currently, it is limited to students in need from the Nova Varos municipality. However, according to the founder's words, there is a long-term plan to expand scholarship opportunities to other students, especially those from Tesla's Lika region, as the institution grows.
