Lecture Details "In the last decade, artificial intelligence has significantly accelerated the development of language and speech technologies, enabling a much higher level of natural language understanding and achieving greater accuracy in speech recognition and natural speech synthesis, which is now widely used. This progress has enabled numerous applications that are now enhancing many aspects of life and work, but it has also opened up possibilities for misuse. The lecture will explore the prospects of useful applications of speech machines (polyglots) but will also highlight the dangers of misuse. It will emphasize the need to preserve natural (native) languages in the upcoming era of digitization, increasingly frequent human-machine speech communication, and further advances in artificial intelligence." Prof. Dr. Vlado Delic About the Lecturer, Prof. Dr. Vlado Delic Dr. Vlado Delic is a professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad and has also served as a visiting professor at universities in the region. As an educator, he has contributed to the development of several new courses in the fields of technical acoustics, signal processing, and speech technologies. In his research, he is dedicated to human-machine speech communication within the field of artificial intelligence. His research team at the Faculty of Technical Sciences and at the company AlfaNum (of which he is a co-founder) is a leader in the development and application of speech technologies for Serbian and related languages. Among 350 publications, he has authored over 30 papers in high quality journals, and some of his works have received awards for the best scientific research. He has led numerous (inter)national projects as the head of the Acoustics and Speech Technology Group at the Center for Vibro-Acoustic Systems and Signal Processing (CEVAS), which is accredited as a Center of Excellence. He has developed several widely applied technical solutions and patents, including innovative speech portals and applications, as well as valuable aids for people with disabilities. Together with his research group, he has received numerous awards and recognition for creative work and innovation, including the Grand Prize "Golden Archimedes" in Moscow, the Grand Gold Medal of the Novi Sad Fair of Electronics and Telecommunications, Best Technological Innovation in Serbia, Best IT Product in Serbia, the "Captain Misa Anastasijevic" Award for Innovations, and the May 1st Award for Creative Work and Creativity.
